Kay Mehrizi (she/her) is an intersectional feminist and a seasoned therapist with a background in behavioural and clinical psychology and over a decade of experience specializing in trauma, particularly related to gender-based violence, intimate partner violence, and sexual abuse. Kay’s expertise also extends to mental health, addictions, and access to justice. Over the past fifteen years, Kay has been committed to delivering health, wellness, and accessible social services to diverse communities.
Kay’s career includes extensive work with survivors of various forms of violence, educating organizations on justice, equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility, policy advisory work, Program, and departmental development, and change management. She has led numerous EDI initiatives, developing, and facilitating training programs for organizations, leadership, and community groups to foster inclusive and respectful environments. Additionally, Kay has provided comprehensive support to intersectional groups within the 2SLGBTQ+ community, including anti-violence and legal support. With substantial experience working with folks within various areas of the law, Kay has advocated for clients' rights within the justice system, ensuring equitable access and representation while collaborating with human rights organizations and advocates to promote and uphold the rights of equity-deserving populations. Kay has developed and implemented countless trauma-informed programs that meet the unique needs of both organizations and community members, focusing on addressing psychological safety, belonging, workplace violence and harassment, trauma, mental health, compassion fatigue, and burnout. Her dedication to this work stems from her lived experience as a radicalized, neurodivergent, lesbian immigrant and a deep commitment to fostering equity, justice, and well-being within our communities. |
